What we do
Six ways we show up for Black Tampa.

We tutor
Power Hour: two free hours of virtual homework help and mentoring every week for K–12 students in Tampa.

We build readers
Books to Barbers: a middle-school literacy pilot where pages read earn a free on-campus haircut.

We fund young founders
The Youth Business Fair gives Black youth entrepreneurs a free booth, starter capital, and mentors.

We grow food
A neighborhood garden in Belmont Heights, run with the HOPE Center, fighting food insecurity block by block.

We fund care
Rooted & Well: free, culturally competent virtual mental-health groups and 1:1 sessions for Black Tampa.

A living archive and newsroom documenting Black Tampa Bay — its people, protests, and businesses.

Mission

Black N Tampa was founded in 2020 by Charlea Bing after the murder of George Floyd — a guide to the Black organizations, restaurants, businesses, and organizers the mainstream never made room for.
Today we publish a living archive of Black Tampa Bay while running five free community programs with local schools, barbers, and community centers. See where the money goes.
